“I lift you high in praise, my God, O my King! and I’ll bless your name into eternity. I’ll bless you every day, and keep it up from now to eternity.
GOD is magnificent; he can never be praised enough. There are no boundaries to his greatness.
Generation after generation stands in awe of your work; each one tells stories of your mighty acts.
Your beauty and splendor have everyone talking; I compose songs on your wonders.
Your marvelous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness.” Psalm 145:1-6 MSG
Do you bless God everyday? I mean, do you make a point to tell Him how marvelous He is? How magnificent? How great is His work? Of His beauty and splendor? Could you compose a novel telling of His greatness?
We are usually so focused on “our needs” and “our desires” that WE are the ones that want to be blessed BY God…instead of extolling, exalting and honoring Him.
And, not just for what He DOES for us…but for WHO He is. That’s a big difference. A grateful mindset. A resolve to focus on His attributes.
Perhaps, you try to make Him into this magic genie that will gladly bestow your requests. Or, you think of Him as a server in a restaurant who will wait on you hand-and-foot. Or, just maybe you think of our Great God as just an out-of-date old Grandpa who is rocking away, oblivious to your needs.
Those are misconceptions of God. No wonder you don’t find yourself blessing Him. You have made Him something He is not. And, ohhhhhhhhhh, He’s something, SOMEONE far better.
It’s not if He treats you right (as He can’t do anything else as He’s perfect in every way)…it’s if you treat Him right. And that will allow you to proclaim Who He is! You won’t be able to quit praising your King, literally! Just like David wrote in Psalm 145 “I lift you high in praise, my God, O my King! and I’ll bless your name into eternity. I’ll bless you every day, and keep it up from now to eternity.”
Whoa! That’s a change of focus. Instead of looking around, you are looking up! Not only today but for all of eternity. Remember, this is just the rehearsal, here on earth, of learning to praise…to speak of His greatness…as we will be blessing His name throughout all of eternity!
So, practice now! Give Him a big shout! Tell Him of His marvelous works! He is worthy of headline news! Good news of great joy that shall be to all people! To you! To me!
