“A good leader motivates, doesn’t mislead, doesn’t exploit. GOD cares about honesty in the workplace; your business is his business.
Good leaders abhor wrongdoing of all kinds; sound leadership has a moral foundation.
Good leaders cultivate honest speech; they love advisors who tell them the truth.
Good-tempered leaders invigorate lives; they’re like spring rain and sunshine.”
Proverbs 16:9-13,15 MSG
Are you a leader? Do others naturally gather around you? Expecting you to lead? We all lead someone, but are you a Godly leader?
The book of Proverbs has a lot to say about leadership…the character of a good leader. And not surprisingly, it starts with traits like honesty and a good moral foundation.
God cares that you lead like He leads. Your standards of ethics are His standards (found in the BIBLE…Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth). You have His moral compass. You hate any wrong doing. You love to tell the truth. Honesty pours out of you.
After all, your business IS His business. It’s when we make our business….OUR business that we crumble as a Godly leader. Oh, we’re still out in front of the pack but now we are misleading.
We have lost our focus. We have forgotten that…to lead you must follow! Follow who? “I thought I was leading?” Follow God! Thee Supreme Leader! He’s always leading.
He is showing you the way. In Him originate all the good character qualities you will ever need as a leader. And as you stay close to Him, as you focus on Him (and not the pack behind you), eventually it dawns on you that He is not only leading you but all those who are looking to you to lead. So the more closely you follow…the better you lead!
And those around you will be motivated by your God-focused leadership. They will pursue honesty, truth-telling and doing the next right thing.
You are motivating them to live Godly lives. And through your good temperament they will be invigorated.
Proverbs says, “you are like spring rain and sunshine.” Refreshing. Welcoming. Warm. Causing them to grow up so they, too, can lead effectively.
