“‘Relax, Daniel,’ he continued, ‘don’t be afraid. From the moment you decided to humble yourself to receive understanding, your prayer was heard, and I set out to come to you.’
Daniel 10:12 MSG
Notice Daniel’s posture…not just his praying lips. He took a low view
of his own importance, while he exalted the one true God. And that’s a
very good thing, as God is more concerned about motives than He is
about murmurings.
Oh, He loves that I turn to Him with all my cares, but I must remember, He sees my heart first.
Daniel’s prayer was already heard in heaven “from the moment he decided to humble himself to receive understanding.” God saw Daniel’s heart and His answer was already on the way. Not just any old answer…but God’s best for Daniel. In His timing. In His way.
That’s why my posture is so important. It tells Almighty God, “You are in control and I am not. And I will wait expectantly for Your perfect answer. Maybe not what I had been praying for, but along the way, You have changed my prayer and the pray-er…me!”
And as I’m waiting, I don’t need to be afraid. He is already on the scene working it out for my good and His glory.
Lord, may humility always characterize my posture.
