The angel assured her, “Mary, you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus. Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.”
And Mary said, “Yes, I see it all now: I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve.
Let it be with me just as you say.”Then the angel left her.

Really? A teenager was chosen for the ultimate privilege: to house the Son of God, Jesus? To become the earthly mom of the Messiah, the Savior of the world?
Yes. Of all the earthly humans, God chose one. Her name was Mary.
2 Chronicles 16:9 gives us a glimpse into the reason behind His choices…”God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to Him.” That’s it! As His eyes roam to-and-fro the earth, He is looking for readied hearts. Those who are spiritually fit.
And He saw Mary’s heart.
Was she scared? Oh, yes! Was she concerned about being pregnant and not married? Of course. But she knew God and God knew her. Intimately. I’m sure she had spent thousands of invisible mornings talking and walking with Father God. And that intimate relationship wouldn’t stop now. It would only deepen, as she spoke her faith aloud to the angel, “Yes, I see it all now: I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve. Let it be with me just as you say.”
I desire to be chosen by the King of Kings to be His servant, in whatever way He sees fit to use me. I don’t want to be passed over for another to fulfill His plan, as it’s His plan and it will not be thwarted.
My job is to keep spiritually fit.
