“How well God must like you— you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon, you don’t slink along Dead-End Road, you don’t go to Smart-Mouth College.
Instead you thrill to God ’s Word, you chew on Scripture day and night. You’re a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom.
God charts the road you take. The road they take is Skid Row.
Psalm 1:1-3, 6 MSG
Notice…we only need to thrill to God’s Word two times. Yup, that’s all. Just two times. Day and night!! That about covers it all, doesn’t it?
Do you DESIRE to chew on Scripture day and night? Can you say, like Job, “I treasure Your Word more than my very sustenance?”
Wow! More than the food that sustains my body, I desire God’s nourishment for my soul! Oh, I want to say that! God, give me the desire to desire You more than anything.
Why? Because that discipline comes with benefits! You’re like a tree replanted in the Garden of Eden (remember…beautifully God-planted garden) bearing fresh fruit EVERY month. AWAYS in blossom. NEVER dropping a leaf.
Strong words. EVERY, ALWAYS, NEVER! Those are BIG benefits. BIG promises from God, Himself. That’s what comes with steeping in His Word…day and night. That means God’s Word is a priority in your life because as you read it…it reads you!
Then, you won’t want to indulge in sin, you won’t want to use your mouth to hurt others, and you won’t want to take the roads that lead nowhere.
Your desires become His desires! Your heart is being changed into His heart! And your life is full of fresh fruit. Not old, stale, throw-away fruit. Because Gods ways are living and right and good! And, through His Living Word, being your compass for the course of life, you know that God is charting the road you take.
No turning back here! No regrets now! You’re following His road. His Guidebook which keeps you from living the Skid Row life.
