“Show me how you work, GOD; School me in your ways. Take me by the hand; Lead me down the path of truth. You are my Savior, aren’t you?
Mark the milestones of your mercy and love, GOD; Rebuild the ancient landmarks!
Forget that I sowed wild oats; Mark me with your sign of love. Plan only the best for me, GOD!”. Psalm 25:4-7 MSG
When my husband takes me by the hand, I feel so loved, so protected, so cared for. When in a parking lot, I reach out for my child’s hand, and she runs to slip it in mine. Safe. Secure. Knowing wherever momma goes, she’s okay.
In Psalm 25, David is giving God permission to “take me by the hand; school me in your ways; show me how you work; lead me.” And that’s the only way it will work out for your good. God desires to school you, show you, and lead you…but you gotta wanna.
Imagine if I put my hand out to take my child’s hand…and she refused or ran in the opposite direction. Would she receive my protection and guidance? No. Same with God and you.
He wants you to trust Him…that He knows the best way. (Actually, Jesus said in John 14…He IS the way!) He is your Savior, so in the very meaning of that title, you would be foolish not to allow Him full sway.
After all, His mercies are new every morning. His love is never ending. You can look back at His faithfulness throughout your life and mark the milestones. How He has led all the way…it is you that hasn’t followed…breaking the grasp of His hand to go sow wild oats.
But now, you don’t want to stray. The feel of God’s large, warm, all-guiding hand in yours is all you need. His love is enough. His best is enough! He’s YOUR Savior and He is the God Who Is Enough for your next step and the next and the next…as long as you continue to let Him take you by the hand.
