What are your essentials for life? Shelter? Food? Water? Clothes? Yes, those are needed tangibles but what about the intangibles you need? The things you can’t see but are absolutely necessary throughout your lifetime, like “truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation.” The Apostle Paul shares, not only do you need them but you must learn to apply them.
Huh? Who do we learn that from? Who teaches us to walk that way? Answer: God. His Word. The only book as you read it…it reads you. Why? God wrote it through His prophets and apostles. Words that are living and active. Life transforming words. Not a self-help book of methodology
that requires you to pick yourself up by your bootstraps and try again to get life right.
There is inherent power in God’s Word.
Truth is more than a word. Jesus said, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” John 14:6
Righteousness is more than a word. “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.” Romans 3:22
Peace is more than a word. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
Faith is more than a word. “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Romans 10:17
Salvation is more than a word. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
Why are these more than just words? Because they are God’s words. Living. Active. Sharper than a two-edged sword.
His Word…your indispensable weapon throughout life. Read it. Study it. Have your non-negotiable, face-to-face time with Him. Then, as you apply His Word to your everyday ups and downs, you don’t see-saw with your feelings as you are walking in truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation.
You have come to realize that these are the REAL essentials to living. REAL living. More than the physical essentials to survive on earth. These Godly qualities last FOREVER!
