Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have.
Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?
Hebrews 13:5, 6 MSG
What are you obsessed with? Material things? Check what you talk about, what you spend money on, what you think about, what you spend time doing. It will become obvious what you are obsessed with.
The writer of Hebrews tells us that we are not to be obsessed with getting more material things. But rather “to be relaxed with what you have.” In other words, be content with what you have.
As the worship song, from Passion, implores us:
“Give me one pure and holy passion
Give me one magnificent obsession
Give me one glorious ambition for my life.
To know and follow hard after you
To know and follow hard after you
To grow as your disciple in the truth
This world is empty, pale, and poor
Compared to knowing you my Lord
Lead me on and I will run after you.”
That’s it! Lord , give me one magnificent obsession! And what is that? To know and follow hard after You.
When we have one MAGNIFICENT obsession, all else is empty, pale and poor, compared to knowing you, my Lord. So lead me on let me run after you.
And why wouldn’t we run after Someone who assures us, “I will never let you down, never walk off and leave you.” And that Someone is God!
Then, you can be fearless, no matter what! No matter if you have a little or a lot. No matter if you’re in good times or bad times. Because God is there. He is in your midst. At the ready! Ready to help.
Therefore, you can boldly say, “I’m fearless, no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”
That is the essence of the Father’s lovingkindness for us. He will NEVER leave you nor forsake you. The material will be long gone
but the Father’s love will remain FOREVER!
