Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
Matthew 6:32-34 MSG
It’s another new year. Many are making resolutions. Many are planning what they are going to accomplish in this new year. Others are worried about what 2016 holds.
But God (my two favorite words) is on the scene of your life right now. He KNOWS what will occur this coming year. He wants you to follow Him moment-by-moment….not to trust in your plans but to trust the One who knows your desires.
Oh, you can plan…but God directs your steps. You may reach a goal you have set, but perhaps not the way you thought you’d reach it. God is waaaaaay more concerned about who you are becoming AS you reach your planned target. His desire is for you to become conformed to the likeness of His Son. (Romans 8) To be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12)
That requires steeping. Just like a tea bag to hot water becomes infused and cannot be separated…God’s desire for you is to steep in His reality, His initiatives, His provisions. Steep in Him. Become infused with Him. You won’t miss out on a thing. Plus, all your everyday concerns will be met. Oh, maybe not in the way you thought they would be met…but they WILL be met. God wants to show you His way, His timing, His intimacy, and His glory!!
His fingerprints are all over your life. He wants His best for you, not your putrid second best. So give your ENTIRE attention to what God is doing right now.
Notice His fingerprints. Be aware of His working. Then, with your eyes on Him, you won’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. You know He has His best for you and when hardship comes along…and it will…He has that path through the wilderness already carved out for you.
Just take the next step with Him. Do the next right thing. And pretty soon you are more aware of what God is doing in the midst of your circumstances…than your actual circumstances. And your new year becomes “less of me and more of Him”, which was His desire for you all along.
And that, my friends, will lead to a very happy new year!
