God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.2 Peter 3:9 MSG
I remember my mom telling me this morsel of wisdom: “God is rarely early but He’s never late.” It’s in His timing. His way. His best. He sees the end from the beginning and we only see a little snapshot of our lives.
The problem comes when we want to dictate to God and tell Him what to do, how to do it, and when it needs to be accomplished. Hmmmm. Seems like we are reversing our roles. And that can’t possibly work out for our best interest.
His restraint is due to His desire for you and me to come to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. And so He waits. Just like the father of the Prodigal son story Jesus told in the book of Luke. The father was expectantly waiting and watching for his son to turn around and come home. That’s what repentance is all about. And that’s why our Heavenly Father is so long-suffering with us. He doesn’t want any of us to perish but all to come to repentance. To turn around and run back to Him.
So, check your heart. Maybe you’ve been praying for a loved one for what seems like a very long time. And nothing has changed. Don’t give up. Jesus never gave up on you. He’s always the Hound of Heaven and is giving them space and time to change. Just like He did with you…and me. That’s a big hallelujah!
His promises are true. So, as we pray His promises throughout Scripture we have absolute assurance that even when we can’t see Him working…He is. Even when we can’t feel Him working…He is. So stand on His promises and watch and wait. He didn’t want you or me to be lost. And He doesn’t want ______ (fill in the blank) to be lost either.
God’s got this! He really does! Trust Him.

FROM THE COMMUNUTY
Yesterday my mom fell again walking outdoors at her apartment…She is okay & was released from hospital after a few hours. On the drive to West Bend after we got the call…I found complete peace just loving my God & knowing He was in control of the situation no matter what it was. And then reading your devotion today made my heart cry out with a love for Him that can’t be put into words.Thank you & thank you & thank you for listening & obeying the Lord.
