“So don’t you see that we don’t owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There’s nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?”
God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who He is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance!” Romans 8:12-16 MSG
I used to believe that if I followed Jesus with all my heart, all my soul, all my strength and all my mind that I would be destined for “Dullsville.”
The new, powerful resurrection life, through the Spirit of God living IN me, is full of adventure. Full of purpose! Full of relationship…Father to a child. Knowing that Daddy’s “got this” as I confidently hold His hand walking through this Great Adventure called life!
And wherever He takes me, I know if I keep holding His hand…I’ll be just fine. More than fine. I’ll be protected. Counseled. Encouraged. Hugged. Convicted. Assured that He really knows me and I am in His “Forever Family” with a “Forever Home!”
So when God’s Spirit beckons, I respond. No doubts. No fear. No asking “why”. No debate. Just confidence in knowing He has the best things for me to do and the best places for me to go.
I don’t have to know how my adventure is going to play out. HE KNOWS and that’s more than good enough for me. I just hold tightly to His hand, expectantly asking, “What’s next, Papa?” He smiles at me and we walk on.
