“Yes! God is good! His love never quits!”
2 Chronicles 7:3 MSG
Do you believe that? Do you walk everyday, absolutely assured, that “God is good, His love never quits?” Can you shout a loud, “yes”, to others around you, without wavering?
If you struggle with this, I suggest you get to know Him more. His character. His “changelessness”.
He is God and He is innately good. Immutably good. That means He can’t be anything but good. He is only good…all the time. Good isn’t something He does, it is His very being. God IS good. He isn’t swayed by this or that, or by your actions. He is God. He IS good. Period.
God doesn’t have to try to “be good”, like we experience. He doesn’t need to be taught to do the next right thing. His very nature is permeated with good. He cannot NOT be good.
So whatever circumstance He allows in your life, it originated in God’s goodness. I can hear you saying, “But what about this trial, with my child, I’m going through? Or my sister is dying of cancer…how can that be good?”
He isn’t saying that all circumstances are going to “feel good”. Sadly, we live in a sin-infested, less-than-perfect, as the Bible calls it, “fallen” world. But God will use those very situations for “the good”. He will make good out of bad.
Look at Joseph’s life. From the favored son to a slave and back to a man in charge. In Genesis 50:20 Joseph reveals himself to his wayward brothers (who had sold him and told dad that he was dead), saying, “You intended this for bad, BUT GOD intended it for good…for the saving of many.”
As you read Joseph’s life story, his circumstances looked anything but good. But God (my two favorite words) used them for his good. Joseph knew God. Knew God is good. And trusted that this Always-Good God, whatever life experience He takes him through, would be for his good and God’s glory.
God IS good …all the time. All the time…God is good. Oh, and here’s the icing on the cake…”His love NEVER quits.”
In this ever-changing world, there are two unchanging facts you can shout “yes” to…”God is good. His love never quits.”
