“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”Luke 16:10 NLT
It starts with the little things. God observes and weighs how you handle the little things to see if He can trust you with the bigger things.
So how are you doing with the little things? Ya know, your everyday choices. Do you do the next right thing? Or when the opportunity arises do you tell a half-truth instead of the whole truth? How about completing a chore that isn’t your favorite? Do you do a hurried, half-job? When your boss isn’t in your cubicle, do you text, search the internet, and work on personal things instead of staying on task? These “little” things are really the big things. When God sees you being faithful in little, He knows you will be faithful in much.
God is looking at the condition of your heart. Your character. Who you are in the dark, when no one else can see you…but God. He knows when you’re dishonest in little things. It’s not about WHAT you are doing, but your actions reflect WHO you are. So if you’re dishonest in “this” you’ll be dishonest in “that.”
God desires to trust us with greater responsibilities. 2 Chronicles says God’s eyes roam to-and-fro the earth looking for those hearts who are loyal to Him. Why? He has work for us to do. He likes to do His work through human agents…but we have to prove faithful.
Maybe it’s time you give yourself an honest evaluation. Run to Him. Ask forgiveness. Get a fresh start. The One who unconditionally loves you already knows. He’s waiting to give you greater responsibilities.
