“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.
Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.”
John 3:16-18 MSG
It’s hard to comprehend a love like that! But that doesn’t keep me
from being on-my-knees, gratefully accepting God’s deep, all-encompassing love that gave Jesus, His one and only Son, so that I could have a whole and lasting life! Amazing love! How can it be?
You don’t have to know every last detail of a gift freely given to you. All that’s needed is to humbly accept that gift.
Can you imagine asking the giver of the gift why he chose that type of wrapping paper? Or why that size box? Or needing to know everything about the gift before you open it? That would be ludicrous.
It’s the thought. It’s the sacrifice. It’s the purchase. Your response is only to accept.
And that’s what God expects His “anyones” to do. He loved us so much that He gave His One and Only Son, Jesus, so that, when we are introduced to Him, we accept/believe/trust in Him. He’s already done all the work in providing the Gift! Just take the Gift! After all, it’s not yours until you receive it.
And what does this Gift package consist of? Open it and see!
A whole and lasting life! Now and forever!
Now, that’s a Gift that keeps on giving! And He (Jesus) is yours for the believing. That’s an amazing exchange!
Just live your life as a continual “Thank You” letter to God for His wondrously extraordinary love!
