The Spirit told Philip, “Climb into the chariot.” Running up alongside, Philip heard the eunuch reading Isaiah and asked, “Do you understand what you’re reading?” He answered, “How can I without some help?” and invited Philip into the chariot with him…Philip grabbed his chance. Using this passage as his text, he preached Jesus to him.
Acts 8:29-32;35
Philip obeyed God. He didn’t ask a multitude of questions first…as to what, where, how and why. He just obeyed. And in that obedience, God had purpose, pleasantries and passion.
Isn’t that just how obedience works? If we have faith enough to just “do the next right thing”, life becomes an adventure with God at the helm. Imagine Philip walking along the road and suddenly a chariot appears. He overhears a man reading a familiar passage from Isaiah, gets invited into the chariot, and grabs his chance at sharing Jesus with him.
Notice a couple things:
- Philip was spiritually ready. He recognized the passage, being read, from Isaiah.
- God brought along a hungry heart at just the right time; just the right place.
- Philip was excited to preach Jesus to him.
How may times have I missed an opportunity to share Jesus with someone? I want to live ready, so when God’s appointed time matches my readied heart, I will grab my chance to preach Jesus, knowing that He has already gone before me.
I’m just joining Him on His GREAT ADVENTURE!
