Egyptians! Coming at them! They were totally afraid. They cried out in terror to God. Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch God do his work of salvation for you today. Take a good look at the Egyptians today for you’re never going to see them again.
God will fight the battle for you.And you? You keep your mouths shut!”
Exodus 14:10-14 MSG
Big Mo. Moses, who had asked God to choose someone else to lead the Israelites, is now having a bright and shining moment. A Red Sea Moment.
Imagine his predicament. The Red Sea lapping at his sandaled feet. The Israelites still grumbling about their circumstances. And the thundering of hooves felt through the ground…as Pharaoh’s army was fast approaching.
And who does this coward-turned-leader turn to? His God. Yes, the God of the Israelites, but it only took one, Moses, to trust in the living God. Moses chose to trust the Unseen. The “seen” looked pretty bad. Actually, impossible. And then my two favorite words, “But, God.”
See, when God is all we have…God is all we need. If God couldn’t do this, nobody could. But He can! And He did! “The Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground with the waters a wall to the right and to the left.” v22
Amidst all the Israelite’s complaining, it only took oneto trust Him enough to proclaim, “God will fight the battle for you.”His faith starved his fears. After all, Moses had spent 40 years in the desert getting to know God…for this very Red Sea Moment!
I want to be a Moses, don’t you? One who doesn’t just pray for miracles…but depends on them! After all, God is on the scene waaaaay before I am.
